Karate is now largely a striking Art using punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes and open-hand techniques such as knife-hands, Spear-hands and palm-heel strikes. Karate was Introduced to Japanese islands in the early 20th century when Ryukyuans migrated, particularly from Okinawa, looking for work in Japan.

Kickboxing is targeted for self-defense, physical fitness, or as a combat sport. Kickboxing has many variants like Japanese kickboxing that originated in the late 1950s, American kickboxing that originated in the 1970s. It rose to prominence in 1974 when the Professional Karate Association (PKA) held the first World Championships. Historically, kickboxing can be considered as an amalgam martial art created from the combination of elements of diverse traditional forms.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
